Details of UPSC Exams and eligibility including qualification and scheme of examination

UPSC Exams: Civil Services Examination

Educational qualification- According to UPSC, the appearing candidates for this UPSC Exam must have a Bachelor’s degree from any discipline from a recognized university. Appearing candidates of final year are also eligible to apply for UPSC civil services examination.

Age Limit- The candidates must have aged between 21 to 32 years as on 1st August of the examination year. The relaxation in upper age limit will be 3 years in case of OBC and 5 years in case of SC/ST candidates.

Number of attempts in UPSC Civil Services- The General candidates can attempt for 6 times, OBC can do for 9 times and for SC/ST there is no limit.

Nationality- The candidates have to be an Indian national for IAS & IPS.

Examination process- Stage I (Preliminary exam), Stage II (Main Examination) and Stage III (Personal Interview). 

UPSC Exams: NDA (National Defence Academy)

Educational qualification– According to UPSC, for Indian Army, the candidates must have qualified 12th examinations in any stream. For Indian Air Force & Indian Navy the candidates must have qualified 12th standard with Phyisics & Mathematics.

Age limit– The candidates must have aged between 16 to 19 years.

Nationality– The candidates should be an Indian national.

Examination process– Written examination & personal interview.

UPSC Exams: CDSE (Combined Defence Services Examination)

Educational qualification– According to UPSC, the candidates must have a degree for Indian Military Academy/ Officers’ Training Academy from a recognized university or equivalent. The candidates must have B.Sc with Physics & Mathematics or a Bachelor of Eng. for Naval Academy. The candidates must have a degree with Physics & Mathematics from a recognized university at 12th standard or Bachelor of eng., bachelor of technology for Air Force Academy.

Age limit– The candidates must have aged between 19 to 24 years for Indian Military Academy. For .Air Force Academy, the candidates must have aged between 19 to 23 years. For naval Academy they should be aged between 19 to 22 years. For Officers’ Training Academy it should be from 19 to 25 years (not before 2nd June as on examination year).

Nationality– The candidates must have an Indian National.

Examination process– Written examination & personal interview.

UPSC Exams: SCRA (Special Class Railway Apprentice)

Educational qualification- According to UPSC, the candidates must have qualified 12th standard exam with Physics & Mathematics. Appearing candidates can also apply. The graduate candidates with mathematics as a subject can also apply for SCRA examination.

Age limit- The candidates must have aged between 17 to 21 years.

Nationality- The candidates must be an Indian national.

Examination process- Written examination & personal interview

UPSC Exams: ESE (Engineering Services Examination)

Educational qualification- According to UPSC, the candidates should have qualified graduate in eng. (B.E./ B.Tech) from a recognized university or equivalent. M.Sc degree or equivalent degree.

Age limit- The candidates must have aged between 21 to 30 years as on 1st August of the examination year. The relaxation in upper age limit is 3 years for OBC and 5 years for SC/ST candidates.

Number of attempts- The General candidates can attempt for 4 times, OBC can do for 7 times and for SC/ST there is no limit.

Nationality- The candidates have to be an Indian national.

Examination procedure-

Paper I MCQ type- General Ability Test (Part A- General English & Part B- General Studies)

Paper II & III MCQ type- CE/ME/EE/Electronic & Telecommunication Eng.

Paper IV & V conventional type- CE/ME/EE/Electronic & Telecommunication Eng.)
