Civil Services
The Civil Services refer to the permanent executive branch of the Republic of India. The primary responsibility of the members of this service is the implementation of executive decisions taken by the ministries as well as implementation of orders of the various courts and other bodies/commissions. The members of the civil services serve as administrators in the central government as well as state government; as emissaries in the foreign missions/embassies; as permanent representatives and employees in the United Nations and its agencies and as Chairman/Managing Director/Full-time/ Functional Director/Member of the Board of Management of various Public Sector Undertakings/ Enterprises, Corporations, Banks and other institutions. Civil servants can also be appointed as advisors or special duty officers or private secretaries to ministers of the Union and the State Government.
